Made with Love

You know the problem with blogs? People read it. And when I say people, I mean husbands. Remember my last post ages and ages ago? About my husband not liking my soup? Said husband read it. Which isn't a problem, really, except I didn't realise it's going to upset him as much as it did. To be honest, after writing it, I did worry about casting him in too harsh a light, but after rereading and reconsidering, I thought that surely the bit about him being wonderful and kind and all that will override the bit about him not liking my soup.

Except it didn't. I spent about a week explaining to him that he's not a horrible person, I'm not really hurt, and I'm perfectly ok with him not liking my soup. I offered to cook him something special to make up for it, and he instantly demanded minestrone, and promised he'll love it. Big sigh. I thought the epic minestrone battle was behind me forever. Anyway. That's why you haven't heard from me for a while, and I'm really sorry about that. I was cooking all my husband's favourite dishes for him. Lamb shanks and roast lamb and scones with clotted cream. Also some fabulous stir fry and banana cake. We have a saying in our house that everything we make each other tastes better, because it's made with love. And that's what I tried to do. Of course he loved all of it. In fact, I bet I will never cook anything ever again that my husband will not like. That's the Fabulous Man for you - kind to a fault.

And no, I haven't cooked him any minestrone. In fact, if you don't count the soup I made with the glut of vegetables in the fridge one weekend, with some lentils, I haven't made him any soup at all. It's a bit of a dilemma, actually. I will never be able to cook him soup knowing that he really, honestly loves it.

Then again, if that's the biggest problem I have with my husband, I count myself a lucky woman.

There are so many posts to catch up on, I have no idea where to begin. There are several Daring challenges I've missed, so brace yourself for the onslaught of the catch-up. Also my beloved book club. Paper Chef hasn't seen me in ages. Neither has Meeta. So I'm off to the kitchen to make some wonderful things. See you soon!
